Why is Dott sometimes unavailable in winter?

When cities experience extreme weather – particularly during winter – all the cold, snow, and ice can make it unsafe to ride. Whenever there’s harsh weather, we make our Dotts temporarily unavailable to keep everyone safe.

We call this “winter closure” or “hibernation”, and it can last a few days, weeks, or months depending on the weather conditions. Don’t worry, we’ll inform you of our hibernation ahead of time via the app, email, and push notification, and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we’re ready to ride again!

Passes will be paused during hibernation

You won’t be able to buy or use a Dott pass while we’re hibernating. We’ll get in touch with you if you have an active pass with credit remaining when we go into hibernation.
